Xolisile Nomasonto Khanyile (April) is a lecturer at the University of Zululand and where she is responsible for coordinating the research committee for the Law Department. I received my undergraduate at the University of Zululand and my Master’s degree at the University of Pretoria. I have taught on all levels. Those modules include the Law of Insolvency, Criminal law, Commercial Law, Criminal law, and Tax law. I have also taught in other Universities where I was teaching the Law of Evidence.

  • 2011-2013: Candidate Attorney at Legal Aid South South Africa
  • 2013-2014: Director at Khanyile Attorneys
  • 2014-2017: Lecturer at UNISA

I have been with the University of Zululand since the year 2017.

Research interests:

Xolisile Nomasonto’s research interests focus on the areas of Criminal Justice System in South Africa. She is currently completing her doctoral research in the area of Criminal law, specifically on the issue of a reasonable person test. Xolisile has a strong interest in pursuing her research in other spheres of law more specifically in Tax law, Commercial law and law of Insolvency.

Professional membership:  As an admitted attorney: I am a member of Legal Practice Council.
