I hold a B-Proc degree from the University of Kwa Zulu Natal – Howard College, a Master of Laws (LLM) from UNISA and a Doctor of Laws (LLD) from UNIZULU specialising in the Law of Evidence. I am an admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with 26 years of experience as a Regional Court Prosecutor and Legal Practitioner. I am a senior lecturer in the Department of Law with 15 years of experience as a lecturer in the field of Procedural Law and the Law of Evidence. I am aslo actively involved in the supervision of post-graduate students in the LLM and LLD Programme. I also serve as an external examiner for both under graduate and post- graduate programmes at other insitutions of higher learning.

I am passionate about the Law of Evidence and Criminal Procedure. I have been actively involved in litigation in the field of criminal law for the past 26 years. I have co-authored two (2) books on the Law of Criminal Procedure, Pieter du toit & Kanagie Naidoo Law Lifeline: Law of Criminal Procedure (2010) LexisNexis and Theophilopoulos, C (ed.). 2020. I have also made contributions as an expert to The Law of Evidence in South Africa Basic Principles, (2019)Bellengere, Palmer and others, Oxford.

I have presented papers at conferences such as the South African Association of Law Teachers and the MBALI International Conferences.

Research interests: I enjoy research in the field of Criminal Procedure, the Law of Evidence and Cyber Law. Research on the relationship between Criminal Law, Criminal Law and the Constitutional Law is also something that I am rather interested in.

Professional membership: I am an active member on the roll of Atorneys of the High Court of South Africa  registered with the South Legal Practice Council.
